End Date: 2021-03-01

Description: We propose the development of an atomically referenced visible spectroscopy-grade PIC laser operating at 689 nm which will provide a visible PIC-based oscillator with absolute atomically referenced frequency stability capable of reaching the part per trillion level.
Benefits: Compact clock lasers at wavelengths for Sr clock transitions that are directly specified in call for proposals. Specifically roadmaps: TA-8.1.3: Optical Components (reliable laser systems) and TA-8.1.5: Lasers (reliable laser system w/ long lifetime) with ultimate SWaP improvement due to full on-chip integration.

Compact sensing, navigation, and timekeeping. Low-cSWAP inertial guidance devices and gravity gradiometers, interaction-free atomtronic circuits, portable quantum sensors and clocks, new probes of surface physics, hybrid quantum technologies, and chip-based matter wave SQUIDs.
