ECLSS Carbon Control
Status: Completed
Start Date: 2012-10-29
End Date: 2013-11-01
Description: Designed to address two critical areas of interest for NASA and MSFC: advancing life support systems and developing in situ fabrication and repair (ISFR) techniques. This was completed by using Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD), a chemical process used to produce solid products. Specifically, the effort sought to produce carbon films from methane, a gas produced as a byproduct in state-of-the-art life support systems.
