Ionic Liquid Epoxy for Joining of Cryofluids Handling Plumbing
Status: Completed
Start Date: 2018-10-01
End Date: 2019-09-30
Description:
Project will test a new epoxy formulation for metal to composite bonding of cryogenic fluid plumbing elements.
Benefits:
Cryofluid handling using metallic structures joined with Composite pressure vessels. These have been very massive and prone to failure. The adhesive joining of composite plumbing used for cyrofluid handling is an incredibly promising route to reduce the mass of spacecraft, thus enhancing NASA’s deep space cryo vehicle exploration capabilities.
